The Big Questions

So, I'm kind of at a loss for where to begin, you know? Just gonna lay out my thoughts and see where they take me.

Let's chat about life, right now, in this moment. We're all caught up in the daily grind of work or study, aren't we? But have you ever stopped to really watch yourself during those times? Like, there are two modes: either you're laser-focused on what you're doing, or your mind's wandering off somewhere else. Ever noticed that about yourself?

Here's a thought: maybe when we're not fully in the zone, what we're really chasing is a quick dopamine fix. You know, that instant buzz of pleasure. We've got options: there's the easy, "cheap" dopamine that's just a click away, or the more satisfying "deep" dopamine that takes some real effort to earn.

In today's world, it's easy to get sucked into the quick thrills of social media or whatever else gives us that instant hit. But in the midst of all that distraction, we're kind of forgetting the big questions, aren't we?

Like, who are we, really? What's the point of it all? Can we break free from the daily grind? Why do we feel sad? And what makes us genuinely happy?

There's a lot of "why" in life, isn't there? Asking ourselves those questions can be pretty eye-opening.

So, here's a little nightly ritual to try out, just five questions to ponder every evening:

  1. What I am really worried about?
  2. What I am presently sad about?
  3. Who has annoyed me and how?
  4. What does my body want?
  5. What is still lovely?

Let's face it, life's full of mysteries. But maybe by asking ourselves these questions, we can start to unravel a few of them.
